Do You Reward Your Self?
With all the grinding and hustling we do, we often forget to reward ourselves. This creates a toxic environment which leads to burnout then self doubt, then we become too hard on ourselves . And the vicious cycle continues.
- Don’t forget to pause and look back at the progress you made.
- Celebrate your small wins.
- Your reward could be as simple as taking 4 hours off, getting a massage, walking in nature, getting an ice cream – anything that’s going to rejuvenate you.
- Take a breather and enjoy the finer things in life.

My wife and I, we’ve just got to Los Cabos, Mexico, and we’re staying at this awesome resort, and it’s overlooking one of my favorite things in the entire world, which are these: yachts, sport fishing boats, and just regular boats.
I just love boats and I love being on the water, which remind me, this is what I’m working so hard for. So I can obtain one of these. I want one of these sooner than later so I can experience it, so I can have the freedom and the luxury to travel wherever I want, up and down the east coast, in the Caribbean, to the Bahamas, wherever.
But, don’t forget to reward yourself.
See, it doesn’t have to be something like this right off the bat. I’m not close to this yet but I am progressively every day getting closer to one of these.
But don’t forget to reward yourself for the small things that you do day in and day out.
We’re constantly focused on what’s next, what can I do next, how can I get further, how can I take it to the next level, how can I generate more, so on and so forth. We forget to pause and look back at the progress that we made.
And what happens is we get in this vicious cycle of not rewarding ourselves, and then we start beating ourselves up, and then we push ourselves harder, and then we don’t reward ourselves again, and then we push ourselves harder, and then we don’t reward ourselves again. And it’s just like this toxic environment, and it’s not a way that you should operate from. It should be in a, a place of abundance.
So, reward yourself on a daily basis just by writing down what the wins were for the day.
What were – yes, exactly, Ilian, then the burnout, then the self doubt, and then it’s like, “What the hell am I doing all this for?”
It’s like, “Oh, I haven’t had a day off in months,” because you haven’t rewarded yourself. You haven’t said, “Eh, I did a good job these past couple weeks, let me go out and have a nice steak dinner,” or something along those lines.
Or just give your, grant yourself a massage.
Cody, I’m in Los Cabos, Mexico. I just got here today with my wife Lauren. We’re spending some time together just unwinding and disconnecting. Yes, man, it is phenomenal here. It’s absolutely beautiful. I’m overlooking all of this abundance and, yeah. I mean, so this, yes.

Everyone likes the white sandy beaches and the ocean. Actually, this is my jam right here. Overlooking a marina, the yachts, the boats.
This is heaven to me. I’d rather look at this all day long than palm trees and some sand. I mean, I do love those, but this is my first love, right here.
But, back to the topic – you have to reward yourself.
You have to reward yourself on a daily, weekly, monthly basis, or else, what the hell are you doing it for? So, I put my sights on one of these. I’m going to have one of these in the near future.

So a thing that I do on a weekly basis is I block out free time for myself. So I will actually schedule free time and I keep it open ended. So you should start doing that too because if you’re like me, you’ll just keep going down this vicious hamster wheel of work, work, work, work, work, and you won’t take a break and actually enjoy the finer things in life.
So I just wanna make this video short.

Set your sights on a weekly goal for yourself, and just reward yourself with something small. It doesn’t have to be a yacht. I mean, this is on the higher level – and that is very true, Catherine.
She went to go do something, and I’m like, alright, got to get on it.
That’s how the brain works, right?
But yes, set your higher goals for one year, two years, maybe three, four, five years out. Something to aspire to, something to level yourself up to. But also, don’t forget the small things that happen on a daily basis, and reward yourself.
Go out for some ice cream, schedule a four hour break where you could just walk through the wilderness or go into nature.
Schedule a massage for yourself. Little things to keep you fresh and rejuvenated so you can get after it and perform at your optimal peak level.
