Growing Your Business: Time to Hire
To Much To Do By Yourself- Hire Someone
Being an Entrepreneur is tough, sometimes you need some help. Getting pulled into 100 different directions will wear you out. Slowly you will find yourself getting 3-4 hours of sleep on a good night in order to finish your to-do list. When do you know when to hire someone to help? Where should you look for your next employee? The questions could go on and on.
Fortunately there are people out there that have these questions answered already. They have hired full time employees, consultants, virtual assistants, and interns; and know the best way to expand their business with the correct personnel.
Who Do You Hire?
Deciding who to hire will determine how your business operates. Are you looking for growth, or are you looking to maintain the day to day activities. There are many differences between hiring a professional and hiring an intern.
My Personal Experience
After going full force with my marketing firm, Black Lab Media Group, I need some help with my other operations. I am looking to have someone help me grow my businesses and assit me in my day to day things.
I was interested in hiring an intern at first, but before I posted an ad, I thought it would be a good idea to ask someone who knows this topic better then I do. I reached out to my acquaintances Dan and Ian at Lifestyle Business Podcast. In my email I asked questions regarding hiring an intern, the best ways to do it, and if it will be optimal for growth. They were kind enough to answer my question as a feature in their podcast. Have a full listen here.
The Outcome
I’ve decided to hold off in hiring an intern, I am looking to expand my business and need a full time assistant. I will spend the next 3-4 months looking for a full time Virtual Assistant. I will have them take care of some of my admin stuff, article writing, and a few peaces of my niche sites. I want to be able to focus on my marketing firm, and this will give me the opportunity to do so. While I hire a VA I will document my work to be able to tell you all how I do it. I am excited to enter this new level of my business- I’ll let you all know how it goes.
